Renaissance Legal team rolls up their sleeves for St Ann’s Well Gardens

On Friday 15th May, thirteen volunteers from Renaissance Legal headed to St Ann’s Well Gardens in Hove for an afternoon of hands-on community work, and they made quite an impression on the undergrowth.

Armed with secateurs, rakes and gardening forks, the team got stuck in, clearing five huge bags of brambles, bindweed, stinging nettles and a variety of other unwanted foliage from the gardens. The weather did its best to test their nerve – a chilly afternoon with the occasional shower, it is May after all – but the team barely noticed, working their way steadily through some seriously determined plant life.

St Ann’s Well Gardens is one of Hove’s most loved green spaces, a place where local residents walk, relax and come together. Like many public parks, it relies on community support to keep it at its best – and that is exactly what brought the Renaissance Legal team there.
